Luther's greatest weapon was the printing press.

From 1521 through 1524, Germany was flooded with pamphlets, which the people received eagerly. They crowded around the doors of the printers when any important message or booklet of Luther's was ready to be released. Sometimes one who had bought a copy of the newest publication would begin to read it even before he went home, and a crowd would form around him demanding that he read it aloud to them in the street or marketplace.
